Kristo Klementi, CEO of Revismo, shares insights in an article published by Äripäev’s Tööstusuudised on the evolving competitiveness of Estonian engineering consultancies in the Nordic market. While cost-efficiency was once a key advantage, the market dynamics have shifted—price levels between Estonia and the Nordics are becoming increasingly aligned, and competition is more intense than ever.
Price levels in the Nordics and Estonia are becoming more aligned
Over the past few years, Estonian consultancies’ pricing has approached that of Finland and other Nordic countries. As Kristo Klementi notes, a lower price is no longer enough to win contracts:
“ Our experience shows that the average price level of Finnish consultancies is only 10–20% higher than ours. However, we’ve heard from several Finnish clients this year that the price gap must exceed 20% for them to consider buying services from Estonia. Otherwise, they prefer local consultancies,“ said Klementi.
Quality and Value-Driven Engineering
This change in market expectations means that price is no longer the main competitive factor. Klementi emphasizes that Estonian consultancies must now stand out through the value they provide and their professionalism:
I believe the time when lower pricing gave Estonia a competitive edge is over. Today, success is built on efficiency, quality, and solutions that help clients meet their goals,” he said
In recent years, Revismo has actively responded to this challenge. The company has optimized workflows, identified bottlenecks, and automated tasks so that engineers can focus on substantive work. Strategic choices have also been made regarding services: low value-added tasks have been phased out, and the focus has shifted to projects where Revismo’s contribution creates the greatest value for the client.
