This summer, Revismo continued its four-year tradition of welcoming students from a German technical high school for a two-week engineering internship. Through this international collaboration, students get a first-hand look at the day-to-day work of an engineering company and discover how the knowledge gained at school is put into practice on real-world projects.
A Comprehensive Insight into Engineering
During his internship, Johannes gained experience in various stages of the engineering process, from preparing CAD drawings and working with 3D models to performing structural calculations and selecting suitable materials. What interested him most was discovering just how many different aspects go into completing an engineering project.
“I expected engineering to be mainly about creating new designs, but the internship showed me how important it is to analyse existing data, use appropriate models, and carry out thorough structural calculations. I was also surprised by how many different tasks need to be completed before a project is finished,” Johannes said.
The Internship Strengthened His Interest in Mechatronics
The two-week internship gave Johannes a much clearer understanding of an engineer’s daily work and reinforced his interest in pursuing a technical career. At the moment, he sees his future in mechatronics, where he can combine product design, electronics, programming, and hands-on engineering.
“I enjoy building things with my own hands, working with electronics, and programming. At the same time, I also want to design technical solutions myself. Mechatronics seems to offer the perfect combination of all these interests,” Johannes explained.
In addition to gaining valuable engineering experience, Johannes also enjoyed his stay in Estonia. He was particularly impressed by Tallinn’s unique combination of medieval architecture, Soviet-era heritage, and modern urban development.
He described Revismo as a company with a friendly and supportive team, adding that it provides an excellent environment for learning, professional development, and practical engineering experience.
